St. Thomas the Apostle parish has been Hyde Park's Roman Catholic
community since 1869.
Our parish church, the first Catholic church building designed by Barry Byrne, is
listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is among the most
interesting church architecture in Chicago. We invite you to learn about the
building and the "Sacred Space" in which the Saint Thomas community worships.
Alfeo Faggi, an Italian sculptor, produced a bronze Pieta and a set of stunning
stations of the cross for St. Thomas the Apostle. We invite you to an online
meditation of the stations.
Our parish is blessed to have been given a bas relief of Jacob wrestling with the
angel by artist Harold Bloom.
